I moved to New York because New York is where it's at. The highest concentration of edgy, innovative, shocking, and amazing art is here, so it's ironic that one of the best performances I've seen in NYC is by a company from out of town. Savion Glover has a reputation for defying laws of gravity in order to achieve the most dynamic sounds and fastest speeds possible with his tap shoes. His effortless mastery of executing lightening speed sounds justifies the lingering question, " Is he superhuman?" But, the true lesson that Solo in Time teaches is that Savion Glover is a chill, down to earth guy having fun with his friends, while doing what he clearly LOVES to do: superhuman tap dancing.

Dance Review: New Dance Alliance Mix Festival, Variety Keeps the Heart...

This past Thursday, Joyce SoHo theater hosted the New Dance Alliance (NDA) Mix Festival.  It was definitely a diverse blend of artists and the small, intimate space really let the choreography shine through.  The program consisted of six pieces, all different choreographers, some of which just hopped on the subway while other’s flew for hours to meet up for an evening of expression and artistic fulfillment.
