JESSICA CHEN is a New York based dancer and choreographer. She grew up in Hacienda Heights, California. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies emphasizing in Socio-economics and politics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. When J. Chen was 19, she sailed around the world meeting people in China, Vietnam, India, Tanzania, South Africa, Brazil, Japan and Venezuela.
J. Chen moved to NYC to study at the Alvin Ailey School. There she met and trained with Mr. Earl Moseley and more opportunities opened. At the Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts she worked with choreographers such as Sharon Wong, Juan Rodriguez of Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Julian Barnett, Camille A. Brown and Darcy Naganuma. The J. Chen Project presents her own work performing in festivals such as Dumbo Dance Festival, Jennifer Muller the Works, Solar Powered Dance Series, and PMT Dance Series. As a commercial dancer J. Chen has toured internationally with hip-hop artist and judge of America’s Best Dance Crew Lil Mama. Recently she began working with recording artist, Dennis R. Diaz, as artistic
director and choreographer.
